O God, thy Sea is so great and my boat so small
May 12, 2023 New York City New York
We spent last light at Point Pleasant Beach New Jersey which is located at the Manasquan Inlet. This is also the town that begins the New Jersey Inland waterway (NJIWW) . We did not want to do the NJIWW as it is very shallow and is not well maintained/ dredge. Each town is responsible for that work not the Corp of Engineering, which is responsible for all the other Inland Water Ways . Therefore we chose to do the state of New Jersey on the outside meaning we cruised the 150 miles of coast on the Atlantic which was wonderful.
At any rate we left Point Pleasant Beach just before 8 AM and had a 47 mile journey to New York City.
At 12:30 PM we officially CROSSED OUR WAKE on the Great Loop at the Statue of Liberty. We are spending the evening here in Manhattan at Liberty Landing and going to celebrate.
I am still working on the blog for the week and will post it later but wanted to post this amazing Late Breaking News. We have had a great week which included the 65 mile journey down Delaware Bay and the two days of running on the Atlantic Ocean up the Jersey coast.
Thanks for all your support along the way, hopefully we will see you all soon. We start our journey back to Maine in the morning with luck will be home by the end of the weekend.
